Krop Around Town: Home For The Holidays

Krop Around Town: Home For The Holidays

You all know that I am always somewhere with Krop Jeans. And while I could easily write about every single place, for this holiday feature I wanted to highlight some of the places and small businesses that have been a part of Krop Jeans since day one.

KATONAH, NY

This little town has a big piece of my heart. From shopping here as a kid to working here for over 6 years at Toney Toni & The Gang and now doing Krop-Ups in town whenever I can. Katonah defines “small business charm” and it warms my heart to see new small businesses being added to the ones I’ve loved all these years.

Bijou: Anyone who asks me about my rings (or any of my many pieces of jewelry that I’m wearing all at once) they’ve probably come from Bijou. I always joke that Casey is the most dangerous best friend to have. If you’re a jewelry lover or know someone who is and you haven’t been to Bijou, beware that by going in there you’re going to fall in love with with everything (and that includes Casey himself too😉) • IG: @bijouofkatonah

Our North: One of the newer boutiques to open in the last few years and it’s exactly the kind of women’s clothing store that’s perfect for Katonah. The curation in Our North is a seamless blend of Casey’s (lol yes, there’s another Katonah ‘Casey’...we have a club) Brooklyn roots and the relaxed style of northern Westchester or what everyone living in NYC considers “upstate” • IG: @ournorth_store

NINE by Ash: Another of the more recent additions to town that’s felt like it’s belonged all along. Ash has lived in the area her whole life and you can feel that connection in her shop. While it’s mostly a men’s clothing store, women can also rock a lot of these same brands, and Ash’s personal style will give you inspiration. • IG: @ninebyash

Charles Department Store: When I think of Katonah, I think of Charles Dept Store. My earliest memories of shopping in town always included a trip to Charles for everyday needs and always for presents at Christmas. I know I can’t be alone since it’s a true staple of the town–Charles has been in business for over 100 years with the same family. • IG @charlesdeptstore

LMNOP: I can’t go to Katonah without a pit-stop at LMNOP. I don’t know many people who can. Baked goods for both the sweet and savory type (I honestly think you should try one of everything), homemade sourdough, delicious lattes and beer/wine for those hanging out later on a Friday or weekenders coming up from the city (conveniently located literally steps from the station) • IG @lmnopbakery

Katonah Reading Room: Depending on what kind of latte mood I’m in, my other go-to is The Reading Room (their seasonal drink menus are always amazing). Also if you’re more prone to a sweet tooth or have little ones with you, it’s ice cream season all year long…and if you are one of those who eats ice cream in the winter, you can kill time *inside* by browsing their book collection or searching for little gifts and other goodies. Other:

From The Roots: The girls at From The Roots Hair Studio have been my “hair gurus” since they opened in 2021–shoutout to Megan for pushing me into my current ‘strawberry blonde’ phase and Caroline for always nailing what haircut I have in mind. Not only are Megan, Caroline and their team incredible colorists and stylists, I love that as a hair salon they care about sustainability and only use eco-friendly hair products. IG: @fromtheroots

Bijou in Katonah during last year's Katonah Holiday Stroll and where you usually find me during other Katonah events!

POUND RIDGE/BEDFORD

• FOR SHOPPING •

Toney Toni & The Gang (Pound Ridge): Once a part of The Gang, always a part of The Gang." The boutique that started it all for me. Kim started Toney Toni more than 30 years ago with her mom Judy in Katonah where they were for 25 years, now 4 years in Pound Ridge (and recently hit 30 years in Bronxville!), Toney Toni has been the model of a women's clothing boutique. Curated with a wide range of everyday pieces, occasion wear, shoes, accessories, and customer service that always goes above and beyond. TT&G is both somewhere I love to shop (even without my employee discount anymore) and the place that helped Krop Jeans come to life, and it’s also the reason I’ve made my own mark in Pound Ridge! IG: @toneytoniandthegang

Pound Ridge Flea (Pound Ridge): While it’s not an all-year shop, it’s one of my favorite markets to be a part of. Lisa (who also owns the shop “The Cottage” in town) curates an incredible 1-day show every Labor Day Monday with close to 100 high-end vendors who take over the whole of Westchester Ave. It’s always one to mark on your calendar and make a trip for! There’s also a small and sweet holiday market that takes place in December that I’m sad to have missed this year • IG: @poundridgeflea

Rivay (Bedford): If you're looking for an effortlessly cool men's shop where you'll feel like an old friend, Rivay is your spot. When you meet Jon and Katie not only will you be inspired by their personal style but you'll see that with their store, they have perfectly meshed their own vibe with the city meets country vibe of Bedford. The shop is meticulously curated with a combination of vintage finds and their in-house collection inspired by a background in menswear design. And just when you thought these two couldn't be cooler, see them in pop-up mode with their makeshift "booth" aka their vintage dark green G-Wagon. • IG: @rivaynyc

Duchess (Bedford): It's obvious I love fashion and clothing, but one of my other obsessions is skincare. I've been shopping for clean, sustainably focused, beauty products for many years but I could only ever find truly vetted products at stores in NYC. Not only is Duchess a shop that exists locally, but the brands and products have been personally vetted by renowned makeup artist and owner, Jenn Streicher. I also love that Duchess hosts pop-ups and events with other renowned beauty industry pros but also with local brands who are outside of the beauty industry. • IG: @shopatduchess

• FOR SHOPPING FUEL •

The Kitchen Table/Breads N' Bakes (Pound Ridge): I can't go to Pound Ridge without stopping for a latte and/or a sandwich from Kitchen Table (I literally became friends with McKenna because of my love of her almond milk lattes and her love of my denim hahaha) And whenever I'm in Pound Ridge for a weekend pop-up, I'm grabbing a pastry from Breads N Bakes--but so is everyone else so be prepared to wait a minute (or during Pound Ridge Flea, be prepared to be in a line out the door!) • IG: @The Kitchen Table  & @Breads N Bakes

oHHo (Bedford): Also counts as a shopping spot! I know many people come to Bedford for oHHo now, but it's such a good spot when you want your day to get a little more relaxed. My personal favorite's of their products are the hand cream (legit life saving for my hands AND feet during busy pop-up season!), the body oil, and of course, their seltzers. But I also love just going to hang out at oHHo, especially in nice weather, and having a glass of wine and pizza and soaking in the charm of Bedford. • IG: @oHHo

Pound Ridge Flea (in Scott's Corners) on Labor Day Monday!
